This movie created a lot of buzz for itself by injecting new life into the
typical slasher movie format; through a very smart script by a then-unknown
Kevin Williamson and the sharp direction of horror veteran Wes Craven.
Somebody is carrying out a murder spree by acting upon horror movie cliches-
and the only way to survive is to avoid doing what victims normally tend to
do in most kill-flicks. My favourite: Never have casual sex, because people
in horror movies always get hacked up right after doing it. With witty
dialogue, great-looking stars ( Rose McGowan, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox)
and a solid twist ending; this movie is highly recommended. SCREAM's
blockbuster success is notable not only for spawning a neverending series of
imitations, but also for making the Mr. Ghostface face mask an all-time
favourite among Halloween party-goers.
