Review by Tom Allen
3 Stars out of 4

As a prequel to the Academy-nominated original, Tenchu 2: Birth of the Stealth Assassins is a violent, bloody, swashbuckling experience about ninjas. The game doesn't compare to the classic Ninja Gaiden series, which had a compelling story to supplement the well-designed levels.

Tenchu 2 follows Ninja Gaiden with its appropriate selection of ninja weapons, but the poor graphics (object popping, bland textures) and repetitive killing become tiresome. Still, the missions are interesting, and the terrain editor lets you place characters, bosses, and items wherever you desire. If you liked Akuji the Heartless, Tenchu 2 is a safe bet.
