(Review of Dreamcast version)

NFL Blitz is the best arcade football series on the market. This year's Dreamcast version has the quality graphics you expect, in addition to the tried and true no-penalties football game play.

The highlight of Blitz 2001 is the selection of new mini games, including first and goal frenzy, receiver, and quarterback training.

Also new or updated are the plays, playbooks, rosters, controllable cameras, instant replays, statistical tracking, create-a-team, create-a-player, player models, player animations, and heck, even cheerleaders. Most appreciated are the new movies and award sequences that give you more of an incentive to play.

Blitz is definitely a unique football experience. Referees and "time outs" don't exist. You can kick a man when he's down. You can make a kick from any point on the field at any time without penalty. The latest Blitz doesn't offer much over previous versions, but if you haven't played Blitz on Dreamcast, you should give this game a try.
