Why on earth is this game rated T for teens? Is it because Gre has a rifle and shoots it? Look at
all the weaponry fire in Star Wars; that series is rated PG. This game is animated in the
cartooniest way possible, and yet it still gets a Teen rating??? What the hell is going on?
Well, here's the answer: "use of tobacco and alcohol." This description appears on the back of
the game's jewel case. So let me get this straight. If Chewbacca lit up a cigarette and Han
popped open a cold one, Star Wars would be PG-13? Whatever.
Evolution 2 is an excellent game for young players who need a transition from Pokemon to more
sophisticated fare like Final Fantasy. The large and colorful graphics and characters will appeal
to kids, as will the simple but not stupid game play.
The randomly-generated dungeon designs are a new innovation (unless you count the first
Evolution), but the technology does not yet allow for terribly complex random designs.
Considering the likely audience, this is not a bad thing.
Overall, the game runs smoothly with effective pacing. The plot is about as exciting as a
Pokemon movie, and the camera should have a slightly lower overhead angle, but overall, it's
not a bad game for kids. Teens will want to stay away, though.
