American Beauty is one of the best films I have ever seen. It mixed
together realism and idealism with such finise. "There is so much beauty
in this world". It hurts to think about that because we all know it's
true, but can't describe it perfectly or even hope to. Society has
simply muddled and distorted our views. Given us the images of what we
should find to be "beautiful". Who's to say that beauty isn't a lost
plastic bag blowing in the wind? I think when watching this movie we
all saw that bag as beautiful. Our's eyes are just jaded to the world
as we might see it and Lester acheived looking at it in a different point
of view. Anyone who critizes this picture because it's "jaded" obviously
doesn't see that it is exactly the opposite; American Beauty shows how
everyone could view the world disregarding the cliches.
